Back from Spirited Away.
I love that movie so much it's not funny. Especially *Haku*. *_* The music is lovely, too -- I Really Want some sheet music right now. And the art (as usual for Studio Ghibli) is fantastic.
Of course, the open ending just about drove me crazy. But that's what fanfic is for.

Actually, the only thing I'm worried about is if Kazahaya turns into a steretypical uke-type... I was noticing the other day that there was a bit of a change in the art style between the first two volumes. Rikuou is looking better (yum!^^) and not so large and intimidating, but Kazahaya looked a little more...girly. And while he's *cute*, too (*glomps*), I hope it doesn't continue too much... But I haven't *seen* anything past volume 2 except the occasional scan, so I have no idea. Ignore if I don't know what I'm talking about.
I waaaaant my ASUKAs baaaack...

I get on the computer after watching the last two tapes of CCD -- yes I'm indoctrinating another friend into all things CLAMP, why do you ask? -- and what do I find? Mention of a

The x's mean there were four symbols representing Lareine for the first day and one representing it for the second, but no names. I'm going with the natural assumption that it means Kamijo, Mayu, Machi, and Emiru will all be there as Lareine the first day, but the second day Machi and Emiru will be with their own groups and Kamijo will be Lareine.
Actually, it seems the group never actually disbanded. 3 members left, that's all. ^^;; But Kamijo has started up the official page again, and apparently on his publicity credits with New Sodmy, he's always been "Kamijo (Lareine)", while everyone else has had (ex-Lareine).
Of course, as I think inertia said, "Lareine is Kamijo's baby. He founded it, stuck with it, and it's not over 'til he says it is." XD
But does that mean he's going to find new members? o_o Because, because...Lareine without Emiru and Mayu and Machi just isn't the same at all. ;_;

I saw a Riku clone today! *_* Right before I went into Calculus. The *hair*...it was exactly the same color and style, and he looked about fourteen or fifteen. Kind of short, too. Need to see if I can find him again and take his picture. XD
CLAMPfest weekend was a wild success. ^^ I'm pretty sure Orerinia is a Suoh/Nokoru fan now, mwahaha. She also loves Hokuto. XD They have identical personalities, I’m not surprised. ^_^ If I can get her to read the TB scanlations, she'll be done for...she somewhat disdains TB and the S&S part of X. Of course, with some parts of the fandom I'm not surprised... ^^; But she should *read* it first. Yes. *nodnod*
Got a call from the exchange officer today, too, about interviews and Japan. I’m thinking the year after next, though... it will be much easier in terms of classes and such. That means that now I’m way ahead of everyone else with applications and contacts, so hopefully I can get my first choice. ^_^
Having been a beta several times, my thoughts on your quiestions,
Hinoko: The beta should explain *why* they think something needs to be fixed (besides grammar and such). I always tried to offer ideas for fixes. If you don’t agree, leave it in, but remember many of your readers will see it the same way as the beta. I’ve noticed this problem more with style than with plot -- beginning writers sometimes think they’ve got beautiful, strong imagery or emotion...and it only comes across as overwritten. But they Will Not Change It because it’s a Masterpiece. ^^;; I don’t think you’d have too much of a problem there, though, as you have experience and common sense. Just listen and seriously consider the change and the reason why, no matter how much you love whatever it is you don’t want to change (and if it isn’t explained, ask!). Plotwise, there’s more freedom to leave it as you want if you don’t agree with the beta. For the next question, if you’re not getting as much of a critique as you like, by all means *tell them* and ask for a more intensive one! If they can’t do it, find someone else who can. I don’t want to sound harsh...but don’t settle for less than what will make you do your best. ^_~ And seeing works in progress is actually better, sometimes. Especially if there’s a major fix you need to make...you don’t have to rewrite the whole thing. Even if not, it often helps to bounce ideas off them and just discuss where the story is headed.
*deep breath* I hope that helped. I didn‘t realize I had such an opinion. ^_~ Enjoy the Duklyon manga, too, I love it! Where has Kittyhawk’s page gotten to, though? It used to have all the translations and a whole lot of other information, and now it’s...disappeared. ^^;

More proof I am an emotional weakling. ^_~ Finally got to watch a clip from X-Japan's Last Live video - fittingly, it was Forever Love. Well... I was a sniveling mess by the end. I was already quite aware of the fact I cry much too easily, but really... ^^; It's so sad though! ;_; Who knows what state I'll be in after I see Tears (my favorite song and the one they performed last that night).
...in the meantime, I have decided I MUST have that video. *_* But...I'm confused. It doesn't include the entire performance, yet it's 3h10m? And the "overseas version" (*cough*bootleg) has more songs than the official? And "Tears" isn't on there? (Or is it just not listed on the back, since it was their encore after all?) Very confusing... Anyone know what it's actually like?
Rrgh. Still want South Side and ASUKA renewal, too. And books 4 and 5 of TB (the two I don't have). Not to mention the extended LotR DVD coming out soon. Why is everything so expensive? *whimper*

Up until recently, I've only gotten "useful" referrers -- sheet music, scanlations, translations, and lots for references to Lawful Drug and DN Angel (I think at least a quarter said exactly "DN Angel slash fanfiction"). But after Kingdom Hearts things started getting weird.

Your new chapter was fantastic. *_* I'm really impressed
with how you portray Akira and Utako's older selves, too -- very interesting and accurate, in my
opinion. The bit with the 20 Masks outfit was very good (wah! sad! *cuddles akira*); and *wow*,
that scene near the end. Was totally not expecting it. O_O However, it was very well done and
remained believable. I've always had trouble imagining Akira and Utako ever doing *anything*
beyond (very) chaste kisses -- as the scene pointed out, they haven't even dropped the "-san".
^^; But it really worked. Threw me for a loop, though. ^_~
In other words, I liked it. I think it's a given that I'm looking forward to more ^_^ Especially
as I'm curious about what Nokoru's doing...suspicious that he's getting into trouble again. If
there's trouble Suoh had better show up. *nodnodnod*
First choir concert of the year was last night. Went quite well, all things considered -- swing
choir sounds just amazing. I'm thinking about trying out next year. ^_^ No more stress until
December. A celebration is in order. So this weekend I'm hanging out with Orerinia. ^_^ We're
going to watch CCD (hope to bring her over to SuohXNokoru-ness like the good fangirl I am), TB
OAVs, maybe some of X, and I'm going to show her the Lawful Drug manga and translations in hopes of
wringing out a fic. Whee, CLAMPfest!
